About the track

Spa-Francorchamps in the Belgian Ardennes is the longest track on the F1 calendar and has been a consistent favourite among drivers for decades. The legendary Eau Rouge - Raidillon complex, where cars enter a blind uphill corner at full throttle at 300 km/h, is the most iconic section of track in all of Formula 1. The microclimate of the forested Ardennes means rain falls on one part of the track while another remains dry - regularly leading to dramatic and unpredictable races. This is where one of the most chaotic opening-lap crashes occurred in 1998, and in 2021 the race was cut to just two laps behind the safety car due to torrential rain. Fast corners like Blanchimont and Pouhon demand courage and precision at the highest level from drivers. The combination of natural terrain, variable weather, and high-speed character makes Spa a place where the very best truly win.
