Shanghai International Circuit
About the track
Shanghai International Circuit is a modern facility opened in 2004, whose signature feature is the unique Turn 1-2-3 sequence - a long, tightening arc that tests drivers' patience and precision. The massive back straight enables spectacular overtaking moves using DRS and slipstream. After a break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the track returned to the calendar in 2024, welcomed with enthusiasm by drivers and fans alike. Shanghai is where the 1000th Grand Prix in Formula 1 history took place in 2019. Variable weather conditions and demanding braking zones pose a serious challenge for teams when setting up the car. The track rewards late braking courage and precise driving through long, fast sweepers.
