About the track

Hungaroring near Budapest is a twisty and narrow track in the Mogyorod valley, often compared to Monaco without the walls. As the first track behind the Iron Curtain to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1986, it has been a permanent fixture on the calendar ever since. Limited overtaking opportunities mean that grid position and pit-stop strategy are hugely important. July heat in the valley - temperatures often exceeding 35 degrees - poses an additional challenge for drivers and tyre degradation. This is where Jenson Button won from last place in 2006, and Lewis Hamilton claimed a record eight victories.
