Frequently asked questions
How many races are there in the 2027 F1 season?
The 2027 F1 calendar has 24 rounds across 22 countries. That is the same number of races as the original 2026 calendar, but a different set of circuits - Portimão and Istanbul Park are back, while Zandvoort drops off.
How many Sprints are there in the 2027 F1 season?
Ten - four more than in previous seasons. Sprints take place in Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Canada, Monaco, Great Britain, Italy, Brazil, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. For the first time ever both the opening and the closing round of the season are Sprint weekends.
Which circuits host a Sprint for the first time?
Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco and Abu Dhabi host a Sprint for the first time. Montréal, Silverstone, Monza, São Paulo and Lusail have run one before. Monaco is the biggest change - the slowest and narrowest track on the calendar gets a short-distance race.
Which circuits return to the F1 calendar in 2027?
Portimão (Algarve International Circuit) and Istanbul Park are back - both last hosted a Grand Prix in 2021. The Saudi Arabian GP in Jeddah also returns after the cancelled 2026 edition, and the Bahrain GP moves back to Sakhir, because in 2026 that name belonged to the race at Sepang in Malaysia.
What is missing from the F1 2027 calendar?
There is no Dutch GP at Zandvoort - the promoter ended its contract with Formula 1 after the 2026 season.
When does the 2027 F1 season start and finish?
The season starts on 12-14 March 2027 with the Bahrain GP at Sakhir and finishes on 10-12 December 2027 in Abu Dhabi. Pre-season testing is scheduled for 24-27 February, also in Bahrain.
Are all the dates final?
The calendar has been approved by the FIA World Motor Sport Council, so the dates are official. The only exception is the Turkish GP at Istanbul Park, which is subject to FIA circuit homologation. Individual session times will be announced later.
